Mr. Victoria of CED bagged 1st Runner Up in the National Search

Only the best and the brightest teacher should teach—this is the teaching philosophy of Vasil A. Victoria, a faculty member of the College of Education, who bagged first runner up in the annual national search for the Natatanging Guro sa Filipino in the tertiary level held at Teachers' Camp, Baguio City last 4-7 May 2009.

Natatanging Guro sa Filipino is a prestigious search for the best teachers in Filipino in elementary, secondary and tertiary levels in the whole country. The criteria were personality and character (20%), educational qualifications and relevant experience (30%), and teaching demonstration (50%).

Mr. Victoria's teaching demonstration focused on Reading. He animatedly discussed the elements of reading such as vocabulary, comprehension, proficiency, and pronunciation. He adopted expository method as well as cooperative learning through games and competitions.

Though he was the youngest among the contenders, his courageous heart and perseverance made Mr. Victoria  the victor in the prestigious national search.
